I don't know your work process, I know mine. I set out a time in my day to write at least one chapter, if not more. And I don't really have a set playlist for what I listen to while writing. I have an idea, maybe an artist or an album that lends itself to what I'm writing, but it's not always the same.
My questions are: do you listen to music while writing? Do you stick to that artist/album/playlist because it puts you in the state of mind of your story? Or alternately, do you listen to what you like, and does that end up steering your story?
I'm very much the latter. Music can inject itself into my writing on a whim. And I don't know if that's a good thing, considering my readers don't really know why there is this jarring turn in storytelling because I was listening to sad, now I'm listening to something else.
I know you can include music via Soundcloud, but I don't like using that too much. It forces the mood. The reader may not even like it and turn it off.
Though it does give me an idea for a book patent like the greeting cards that play something when you open it. Turn to page 167, song plays. Heh.
