My laptop situation

Hi

As many of you know my laptop has been having some trouble. I anounced that I was on hiatus and would be returning this Monday. I am sad to say that this will not be the case. The laptop will be going in for repairs this Monday and the screen replacement and new battery will take between 2-4 days to get sorted.

I thought that if my laptop was able to stay in the same shape at the beginning of my announced hiatus. I could make another chapter shortly before It was due for repairs. I am sad to say this is not the case as the screen has recently deteriorated so badly that I am unable to draw anything on it.

I'm gutted...

Oh no, Headdy! I'm so sorry you're going through this, my friend have you thought to try drawing on your phone? I know some artists here do it, maybe there's an app?

But, if this is what it has to be, maybe use the time to relax, plan out more of the story, etc.

I really hope you can get back up and running soon. I know it's horrible when you can't do what you most enjoy.

I've tried drawing on my phone but I was never able to make it work. I'm too used to laptops I can't get anywhere close to my usual standard on my phone.

It's nerve wracking not being able to make comics it's like a piece of me is broken. I appreciate your support and everyone else's. Tapas has been a wonderful place for me. I felt like I came out of Plato's cave and saw the light for the first time.

Oh boy. I’m in a similar jam as you. My computer is all but destroyed and it’s going to be a while before I can replace it. What helps me is pumping out drawings of the characters in my stories in an art series of my own for my audience to enjoy just so they have some content while I take my time making new episodes. Although I did just say my computer is destroyed so I don’t anticipate making new episodes of any of my comics that are digitally drawn for a month at least. But try creating an art series with sketches or concept art, or create a novel in the meantime. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it’s something you could try.

have you thought to try drawing on your phone? I know some artists here do it, maybe there's an app?

As someone who draws on a phone, it's a special drawing phone with a stylus and pen pressure and stuff I wouldn't recommend making comics of your usual quality on your phone when your laptop dies, unless you just so happen to have one of those aforementioned drawing phones (Though you could thumbnail on your phone I guess; I did it once with a touchscreen with no stylus and it worked out okay XD)

@ProjectHybrid it went into the shop on Monday it'll be 2-4 days until it's repaired, in the meantime I'm trying not to go completely insane without it.

Everyday I use my laptop so I feel really stressed and uneasy without it.

Well thankfully it's only a couple days. You'll be back up and running in no time! Perhaps get a sketchbook just to doodle in or rough draft some stuff in the meantime? Or use the time to just r&r.

I've ordered a new laptop it will arrive Monday at the latest. Was heart broken when my laptop got back from the repair shop and they couldn't fix it.

They tried putting the old screen back on because the new one wouldn't fit and it was effectively trashed.

I've been taking up more exercise due to lacking a laptop. I find my mental health has been improving so in future I'll start doing an hour's exercise each day. Beforehand I would do my second job and leave it at that. I've been playing with a Basketball as part of research for Twistjam the storyline after Ice Cream Truck Of Doom. I really like shooting free throws.

On a lighter note I've decided once my laptop arrives I'm going to start my new series Thirley Peak. The plan was to finish Ice Cream Truck Of Doom get a new laptop. Then start Thirley Peak, practice the new stuff I have to draw then start Hawk and Flo Adventures again but it seems I'm having to take the break I was planning to take now.

At least you're making good use of the time! Exercise is a great way to handle stress and releases endorphins which helps relax the mind. I'm so glad you're benefitting from it

I'm sorry the laptop didn't work out, but at least you'll be getting a new one! And you've already got a game plan going

Speaking of new series, I’ve yet to update Typhoon. And Firewoman is set to release next month. Alternatively, I’ll just ask to borrow one of my parents’s laptop. Also have a novel series coming out next year that I need to start now .
