So a heavyweight mechanical suit that was originally intended for minining not combat. The only modifications added were fireproofing, a grappling hook, a Hot lead cutting knife, and a fire extinguisher. Those modifications seem more geared towards firefighting or rescuing civilians from trains or buildings rather than fighting superhuman combatants.
Since the users of the suit are regular humans they'll probably tire quickly since the suit itself weighs a lot. Based on your statements the only enhancements the suit offer is strength and flight but, no increase in speed, or reaction time. If they aren't able to react to Dan then they'll just be overwhelmed with pressure and volume.
I'm still in the dark on how durable the suit is, your statement "But with flight and Elsie’s grappling hook it can take a lot of damage" is very vague. I don't think a grappling hook or flying ability can increase the durability of the suit, it would come down to the material used to make the suit. Speaking of the material how good is the shock absorption of the suit? Your character can die from blunt trauma if the suit doesn't absorb most of the impact. In addition, if dan punches start to make dents in the suit your character could potentially be crushed to death or gravely injured.
Since you didn't highlight much of your character's combat experience I can only assume it's limited. That alone will put them at a disadvantage with Dan. Especially If they are fighting with a heavy suit that might restrict fast fluid movement.
