“If you don’t tell me why you’re here, I will kill you where you stand.”
Ryu flinched. “Well, um—”
“No ‘um.’ Use your words.”
Ryu’s eyebrow ticked. Natsu had never talked this way when he was younger. He had always been so mild-mannered, so kind and gentle. The man before him was different, harder, his voice edgier and tone lower. He was more assured and confident. Not to mention authoritative and secure in his position.
He sighed, folding his arms over his chest. “Fine,” he said, meeting his younger brother’s gaze. “I came to inform you of our parents’ deaths.”
Natsu didn’t even blink. Ryu was flabbergasted at the lack of concern he displayed.
“Do you not care?”
“Not really.”
Ryu’s eyes went wide. “Nat—”
“Need I remind you I’m no longer part of the Kanaki family? You cast me out, exiled me because you couldn’t take the fact that I’m gay. Of all the narrow-minded, prejudicial reasons to go that far, that’s one of the worst.”
