Hey Achille â
I know this is a long shot, given that this thread hasnât been active since 2016, but since it seems that youâve since moved from and deactivated all your old social media accounts, this seemed like as good a shot as I was going to get.
This is Spec, from the DeviantArt days back in the early 2010s, though I go by a different name and pronouns (and, perhaps by extension, a different set of moral beliefs) nowadays. Iâve recently started university, and in the process of reflecting on myself and my pastâs role in shaping me into the person I am today, Iâve been struck by how much of who I am has been shaped by the incredible kindness and positive lessons you modelled for me at a much younger age. I can earnestly say that I owe so much of the person Iâve become and the philosophies I live by to your friendship and mentorship from almost a decade ago now, and itâs become clearer and clearer that I had to at least try to reach out to express how much your influence continues to inspire me to be better every day. Even if you donât remember me and have no idea who I am, I wanted to at least try to let you know that you have made a significant difference in my life.
I hope youâll forgive me if this isnât the most elegantly articulated message â to be honest, Iâm writing this on a wild impulse at 4:30am after weeks if not months of thinking about it! Bottom line is, on the off chance you do see this â thank you. Thank you for the kindness and companionship and endless wisdom you provided to me when I was younger that have continued to inspire me to exhibit the same traits, very consciously in your image, as Iâve gotten older. I consider it an incredible blessing that I was lucky enough to have known you, and hope you know that my warm thoughts are with you still; wherever and whoever you are today, I just hope youâre well.
