I do support this! Do you know Medibang and Globalcomix? Those were had heavily Manga style and Traditional style comic only but they weren't that popular like Webtoons that's why It's a bit risky to create a self-publication traditional-comic-style site only despite how insanely popular vertical webtoon comic style nowadays.

Can you accept Left to Right comic but with colors? It has Manga style influence too.

Smackjeeves used to be pretty good for more traditional page-by-page comics, but recently they changed it to just be a Tapas/Webtoon clone (I published a page by page comic there for 10+ years and it's nigh-unreadable now because the site format changed so drastically). Comic Fury is still good for regular comics/manga but isn't all that popular.

Anyway, this doesn't sound like an easy venture but good luck! Hope to see it up and running in the future.

I've seen a few of these kind of sites pop up in the past but they've been washed away in obscurity. It's a difficult venture for sure to reach an active user point that makes posting there worthwhile.

Who's gonna pay for the promotion of the site?
Who's gonna pay for the server?
Who's gonna moderate trolls and keep spam bots away?

I think that energy could be used better in creating your Manga and promote it here at Tapas.
Remember, Tapas and WT drag A LOT of readers to the site because of the Pro/Premium/Original/Paid work.
And all the readers that are here is way easier to capture than fighting Google to get your site known.

But feel free to prove me wrong.

yes i was thinking something like medibang except i feel like medibang is only to promote thier product but this is to promote manga artistis seeking a fanbase and publication.

true but i was hoping for it to be like a place that over time people build up dedicated fan that they can interact with and use their work and fan base as a catalyst to bigger things such as publication, animated shows, or just to popularize thier work and get into the main stream. This platform wont really be to promote the platfrom for commercial purposes but rather to promote the writers and artists and give them a place to archive works like theirs.

yeah those are all reasonable concerns that need to be addressed but i just dont think that tapas has the kind of trajectory that manga artists are looking for. This platform isnt supposed to be a get rich or popular quick scheme. its supposed to be a place that overtime artist can gain readers and followers who they can interact with, editing and changing their work through public feedback then using that to help propel them to publication. I feel like most people on tapas are not trying to get publishied by offical companies and most have their works hidden while only the tapas originals and a select few others actually get promoting making it near impossible for something that doesn't fit the exact niche that tapas is for to become popular on the site sort of making it a wasted endevor. I got the idea from the the one punch man webcomic to anime story except ideally many manga will start on the site and become like a one punch man success story. hopefully. Still just thinking about it though.

A few years ago, there used to be this manga reading website/app called "ZingBOX". It was just a standard manga viewing website, BUT it did have a side to it where people could upload their own comics or just share fanart and that section was huge and really active. I remember I had wanted to upload my own comic, but I wasn't that confident yet and the comment section there was quite brutal if they didn't like something... But I really liked seeing the things people made and the floating comments were both constructive and funny. They also didn't just promo one type of manga, but they did show off the general faves. If there were another site like that, I'd be all on it.

I've been wanting something like that: a manga equivalent site to Webtoons/Tapas. As somebody who working on a manga and converting it to a webtoon format, I feel like the storytelling methods are completely between the two. With manga and traditional comics, there is a lot of attention to the pagination. Pagination is the placement of pages to allow for flow and story telling. You would have to consider the last panel of the spread and think about how to a) entice readers to turn the page and b) how does turning the page impact the feeling of the next panel. It creates for some dynamic moments, comedic moments, or suspenseful moments.

That said, webtoons/tapas format benefits from it's own method of story telling. Since the comic is in a scrolling format, it's more suited for scene by scene storytelling similar to that of a storyboard. It allows for movement in the scene and works for formats that involves a lot of movement.

While I wish there was a site for manga in the same vein as webcomics, I feel like it may be a difficult endeavor. For one thing, manga format stories are a bit of a niche. Webtoons is a popular format due to it's accessability; you can read it from your desktop or your phone. Manga format does not translate well to a smaller screen so it will be difficult to capture as large of an audience.
