Another Wattpad refugee! Welcome. I would say my absolute favorite thing about Tapas vs Wattpad is the scheduling feature. As much as I hate the character limit here, it was nice to be able to just sit down in a couple sessions a day, breaking up the chapters, and having several parts ready to post for months. Downside to that is I'm also not here as often as I was at Wattpad during my real hayday LOL
I think that's going to be true for wherever a person posts so that one isn't exclusive to Wattpad. But the smaller the site, the easier it is to stand out. The flip side to that is the smaller the site, the less users. So it's a bit of a catch 22. It is a bit of good practice if you think you might ever self publish, but it's also grating as all heck. Part of the reason I'm still on the fence about staying on Tapas is because I'm just unsure if I really want to start from scratch with building a fan base. I did pretty good with my 7 years on Wattpad but man was it a lot of work. And right now I'm not sure I have the energy to do that again.
Oh god this. It's honestly why I personally stopped doing them. The final straw from me was years ago when someone wanted us to read 10 chapters just to get one read. I spent a good couple of days working through those chapters, leaving detailed comments, and then nothing. I realized just how stupid I was for agreeing to that LOL
