No one worried about copy-pasting novels here?

It's something I've learnt to live with. I cross-post to other websites (including my own) that allow copy and pasting. I wanted to set up my site so no one could copy and paste, but I don't know enough about programming to do it and didn't want to download another Wordpress extension. Apparently, you need to limit Wordpress extensions for security, I'd rather someone copy a chapter then lose access to a website I paid for.

If someone wants to steal it then go ahead I have plenty of proof it's mine, and they don't know my end game. Hell, I don't know my end game. I'd kind of even be okay with someone translating the free version of my stuff into a different language, it's not something I'd ever be able to do myself (seriously if you do this, please give me credit).

Posting your story online takes the risk that people will copy the text of the story and post it elsewhere, but it is very rarely done except by automated bots. Those bots can get Wattpad and Webnovels story in literal seconds, too, so the lack of copying on those sites does absolutely nothing to prevent the actual problem plaguing web fiction. In fact, I myself at this very moment on the program Calibre could download my own stories from Wattpad into ebook form to put on my Kindle with almost no effort.

If you are actually worried about control over your own content, you should worry less about how easy/hard it is to steal it, and more about how to make your story even more visible on these sites because that's all that really matters for free web fiction. Also, don't use webnovel.com, it's got some really super shady stuff going on.

Thank you so much for your response. Actually, I was offered a contract in webnovel but due to many negative comments in their own forum was having second thoughts. I'm currently on hold with the contract signing. But I don't think I'll be signing it though cause I don't want to lose my patreon.

No anti-copy measure ever work. Once you upload the text to the internet that you can view entirely in browser you can extract it one way or another. The difference is you do it manually with developer tools in your browser of automatically with tools. I myself compiled many free-to-read web novel into EPUB for personal offline reading. Editing and formatting it into professional-looking e-book please me greatly!

In my humble opinion you should continue with your patreon model. Many pay-to-read on webnovel eventually leak all over the internet and there's people who hate that site so much leaking things just for the sake of it.

Oh I see, well now I just think of it as widening my audience. As long as these sites doesn't get overboard, I'm fine.

Also, thank you so much for the advice, I was indeed more leaned on to stay on Patreon since I'm already earning enough income, more or less, there ($250+| exchange rate is quite big) and I don't want to disappoint my readers who were only able to read for free. Also, Webnovel warned me that I might not earn as much as I earn on Patreon. It would be depending on my book's performance. Not very much security there, I think.
