A fragment from chapter 1:
Summary
"Huh? What the..." he muttered weakly as he tried to open his eyes. At the moment he was enveloped by absolute darkness that did not allow him to know what was happening, he could only hear the sound of the rain pounding against the pavement.
However, it was impossible to ignore the strong sensation of the raindrops hitting his body mercilessly.
"Masaru?..." a familiar voice burst in suddenly, making it so that he could not only hear the rain..., but the shouting of angry people in the background.
The heaviness of his eyelids faded as he felt a greater urgency to move, urgency motivated by the screams around him and the sense of danger he was experiencing.
His vision finally filled with color... Although... Before him, he could see people fighting and screaming. Among the rain and the dark scenery, it was hard to make out what he was looking at. Was it that different from having been in total darkness? He was grateful to be able to see, but... At the moment he couldn't even move.
Looking around and taking in his surroundings as best as he could, he seemed to understand the situation a little more.
'Ah. I seem to be on the ground... Could that be why everything looks more intimidating?' he thought as he believed it was quite possible that the people could step on him; however....
Among all the people, one individual suddenly grabbed his attention.
"Masaru..." upon hearing the voice, it was apparent that it was the same familiar voice from before. Though...
In front of him, lay a redheaded boy holding a skull in his hands. His gaze looked completely disturbed.
Exchanging glances with him, he noticed the way he was shivering. Hiding his face with one of his hands, it was evident that he was being overwhelmed by very strong emotions.
Feeling a tug in his heart at the sight of it, Masaru weakly shook his head as he thought he knew what was going through his mind.
"Don't do it..." he uttered in a small voice as his vision distorted.
"Give him back to me!" He heard from one moment to the next. The cries of the people he had heard earlier had ceased. Had he appeared somewhere else?
The voice sounded close; however, his eyelids did not seem to give way this time. As if they were forced to remain closed, he could do nothing but listen.
"Give me back my humanity!"
"Give me back the days you stole from us!"
Why was he shouting that? Masaru knew the reason behind it, but... Wasn't it useless? None of those things existed in their lives anymore... So... Why was he screaming with such desperation?
With much regret, his eyes filled with tears and within that empty space he currently existed in, regretted having to listen to him sound so devastated, and at the same time, wished with all his being that his wishes could be heard.
"Dai... Thank you..." Without having the energy to say more, reality dyed black and his world ceased to exist.
