So sarcastic, people can't tell when I'm being serious or joking about something awful irl

Jokes like the insanely casual "kill me" and "nah, i'd rather be alone and stay at home being sad" are met with "dude, are you okay?" and as a joke to lighten the mood, I'll say "no" like the absolute buffoon I am bc my sense of humor, transparency, and sarcasm are too damn intertwined at this point in my life

Not at all. some sarcasm is ok, but it sounds so harsh sometimes (and sometimes it IS meant to be harsh)... I don't really like it that much ahdkgh. I only use it when it's VERY obvious I'm joking.

Some of my characters are sarcastic as frick and I love them, I love some good sass in media, but not so much irl (I'm way too soft for my own good in that aspect tbh, if I offended someone without meaning to with a sarcastic joke I'd explode ahdjkgkh so nope, I'm not made for that).

Is it because you're so sarcastic that your first instinct is to have a character make a sarcastic remark regardless of the time and place or characterization because it's something you would do. . . Because that's why it's hard for me.

I'm an 8.5; sarcastic to a fault. It's too much fun to change how I talk now. I usually mean it as joke, but it's easy to sidestep taking responsibility for something you've said if everyone thinks you don't mean it.

Problem is, because I can't always identify sarcasm, people think that I'm a lot more serious than I am, so they often think I'm being serious rather than sarcastic.

I'm like you; I'm like a 3 tops, because in my own little family, I do throw around some sarcastic comments, but only because I know my partner gets it. Other than that, I'm really not a fan of it because I can never judge whether or not the person before me is mocking me—and there's little I hate more than being mocked.

Full disclosure, I didn't even understand sarcasm until I was well into my teens lol; it just always flew right over my head. Guess whatever spectrum I'm on had a hand in that. xD But this is why I can't use it in RL much with others because I don't ever want to make others feel the way I did.

Ironically, I love sarcasm in fiction. Especially in my own characters. It's fun, but only because I know exactly what they mean. :'D

On the lower end, I logged 3 for the poll. I usually only use sarcasm when someone says something really dumb/obvious, or to give someone shit xD which isn't too often, thankfully.

I'm pretty low, but my fatal flaw is that if I'm asked to do a simple task, but it's phrased as a question, ("Could you pass the salt") I say "No" in a flat voice, then do the task.

The problem is around strangers, especially ones who don't know me and when the task takes a second, it makes me sound like a total asshole.

I've dialed mine down to a 7, coz I'm trying to be a nicer person(lol), but when I'm in rare form the snark goes up to about a 10 or dare I say even higher. There is almost always a trace of deadass in my sarcasm...

Unfortunately, it's the only coping mechanism I have to deal with the constant influx of stupidity I have to endure
