my earliest works I would draw dialogue and lettering before I even colored the line art. now that I'm more able with digital, I have been using post production for lettering and dialogue. The issue is I feel I was much more capable when I placed everything as it was intended at the end, instead of what I'm doing now.
this is my earliest works I have a copy of. it was a few month long project I began while staying in a shelter.
because I filled it with bubles and character first, it was much easier to have work.
but comparingly now that Im no longer in a shelter and much better, I feel I've worsened in the lettering.
When I began on my most recent graphic novel, I chose an odd font and the first suggestion as soon as it was submited for critique, was to change the font.
So I went with comic sans. I honestly don't know very much about fonts or lettering or bubbles. I've had one art class as an adult, and for the most part self taught.
I have done works in digital but just never released them because they were terrible.
this one in particular was more of an experiment with gimp.
so ya, lettering is really hard. I did find someone who's offering a coarse on twitch tomorrow for lettering and I plan on making it best I can. I don't honestly know where to find all the resources to learn with. I did however, purchase some traditional animation books, so I hope on one day making a cartoon.
