TBH, I always listen to music when I read. Music is a great mood setter, so I use it to 'interpret' books and comics in a way. When I read something that leaves a strong impression on me, I try to find songs that'll help me reinforce that impression.
When the author accompanies a story or a comic with music, I sometimes feel that they're trying to impose a certain mood on me. It can be a huge miss, especially when the author's taste or vision is vastly different from mine. A tune I don't enjoy can be off-putting, and sometimes I find that it doesn't fit the mood of the scene as I see it. I'd much rather have a freedom to make my own impressions, personally.
