Okay, pants/organic/instinctual/freefall folks, bring out your twists
2:00 a.m. last night my muse decided to kick my ever weary patootie out of bed and hit the computer, repeatedly until I had 10 new pages.
It's a love/hate relationship, what can I say.
But, she woke me because she thought of a twist in the story that I might like to explore. It has opened up a canyon of fun fodder I'll be munching on for the week or so. It also happens to be exactly what I was looking for to liven up a section that I feared would get bogged down by being somewhat expositionary. The twist after hero is off getting a set of books that match a book from lifetimes ago with a portrait in it that may or may not be him (means HUNDREDS of years ago) so he gets the new books and... (the twist) there is a portrait of a woman that he resembles, but his race does not have females..... ohhhhhhh
And believe me, I was NOT expecting this kind of twist. On the other hand, because if feels so very right, I'm thinking my sub-conscious has been working on it for at least the past 45 pages and decided to let this little flower open up.
Anyone hit with that lately. I have to say, since we all started talking and discovering each other I've had a real boost in productivity just knowing there are others out there willing to natter over our unique way.
By the way... this is my "work station." No notes, no wall o' papers to distract me, nothing but squirrels (dangerous for me) and birds. It's as close to living in a treehouse that I'll ever get, but it's the perfect office for me to wing it. (looks nicer when there are leaves on the tree)
Looking forward to hearing your twists.
