I'm the same way most of the time honestly, but because i'll be moving in May and won't know when I'll be able to write again constantly, I wanted to have a good buffer.

They have known each other since they were children so they kind of skip the whole get to know you part

I agree, that's why I think it works for these characters. Most other stories I have a lengthier process of getting to know each other before we jump headlong into first kiss and all that mush haha. but maybe I shouldn't have told you how quickly it came since I'm spoiling my own story. but oh well.

How long did writing the buffer take you? That is definitely a lot of chapters, and that makes sense. I write about a month's worth of buffers for both of my stories back in the end of March/beginning of April so that I wouldn't have to worry about trying to keep up with my stories while studying for and taking finals.

Mmm, probably about a month. I can write a chapter a day pretty easily so the longest part of the process is making sure the rest of my schedule between competition and open call deadlines is clear enough for me to dedicate my time to the novel.

That makes sense, I am nowhere near as consistent with my writing as I tend to write in spurts. Sometimes I write alot one week and then I may not write again until the next week lol. About the only thing keeping everything consistent is that I am forcing myself to stick to a biweekly update schedule for my main story and a weekly update for the other story. As long as I'm meeting my self-imposed deadlines then it's all good

So i'm busting my hump with writing deadlines trying to stock up some writing credits and get some work wherever I can XD. It's very hard to find work without a diploma of any kind and my not so great education, but I got accepted into a speculative fiction magazine for a short story of mine like two days ago. That is also forthcoming and will require much patience lol, as the piece doesn't come out until July 24th (assuming all goes as planned.)

That is true. Educations definitely make things easier, but didn't you say you were workin on your GED? That's one step and then you could always join an online college course or two. You don't even really have to finish a degree, but being able to say that you took a few writing courses, etc would look good on a resume. unrelatedly, I was wondering what the leads from your other series looked like. I drew Alice and Teddy, but I've actually improved at drawing people's OCs since then, thanks to art trades, so now I want to try the other two XD.

This could be helpful. I admit I don't know much about government education of any kind because I've never been to a "real" school in my whole 18 years.

Yeah, I usually don't have detailed pages for anyone except for comic characters, but I usually have pretty clear ideas of what they look like in my own head. basically any characters you'd like me to draw i'd be willing to give a try tho, but I meant the main couple of your second novel. And I get it cuz I have a ton of couples too, so I should have been more specific XD.

government education

They do offer a number of scholarships, grants, etc. FAFSA is the main thing they want you to fill out as you can technically go to school for free sometimes with the amount of assistance the government provides. It is worth looking into, but you'll need to finish your GED to apply to most colleges.

I figured you were probably talking about them. I actually just finished up writing Chapter 24 earlier this week, which is the last chapter I have planned for that story. I might do some sort of epilogue at the end, but it was always meant to be a short story and at a little over 26,000 words I think it might be a bit too long for a short story
This is literally the introduction to the ML (Nori) in the first chapter of my second story:
“The man in front of her had obvious muscles and it was clear that his skin was tanned from being outside so often. None of the warriors wore shirts, likely due to the warm temperature and they had shorts made from natural materials on. However, their bodies were all painted with various patterns and paints allowing them to blend in seamlessly to watch over the women and children.”
Nori-
THe ML is a part of a tribe of people who live in a rainforest so darker skin and hair is a common feature for them. They have a variety of body paint to allow them to blend in more seamlessly and at the time of their meeting, he was shirtless and only wearing a pair of shorts. I do picture him with dark green eyes, though. His hair has a slight curl to it, and I imagine it falls a bit lower than his ears. He is tall and is quite muscular.
Kora-
The FL at their first meeting is in her skin-tight black dress she’d partied in for the New Year’s. Unfortunately, as she’d woken up in a different world, she looks a mess. Tangled hair, smudged makeup, blisters on her feet because she’d had to either walk in heels or walk barefoot. I picture her with dark brown hair that she likes to curl on occasion but is naturally straight. She has an olive skin tone and is normal height. Considering she doesn’t have any of her belongings from Earth, she ends up wearing their traditional clothing pretty early on in the story.

It wasn't anything she drank lol. It's just another case of an irresponsible villain doing irresponsible things.
A bit of a spoiler but...
She gets brought to the world by mistake by a certain someone who has been summoning all sorts of magical creatures for his army. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't imagine the one he'd summoned would ultimately be the one to bring him to ruin as well

Real life doesn't lend itself well to elaborate punishments. That is the beauty of a fantasy world. I have the power to do whatever I want and it makes sense becuase its fantasy, lol. I do plan to branch out into some more realistic stories at some point, but I'm loving the fantasy at the moment
