I am not sure how widespread the news is but as of 10/28/24 - Amazon decided to shut down Kindle Vella. It was an "expected" surprise for a lot of users. There was a lot of different things they should have and could have done differently.

A lot of writers now are in a panic looking for their next platform as a way to sustain their livelihoods. To put it into perspective, the average basic users were netting $500 - $1k USD per month, the top "average" users between $1k - $3k USD, and the top top people well over $5k USD every month, some even closer to $10k USD. These writers are now scrambling to find new places to publish and rebuild their readership. As a lot of us know who've been in the game awhile, it's really hard to start from scratch and try to get a reputable premium contract somewhere. They're losing a lot.

Now, I'm not saying to give up on the sites where you have your work published. Just remember that those sites are going to be looking out for their best interests - not yours. Have a plan set up so you can look after your best interests for yourself and your work.
