Dear @STAFF,

Please look at my comic. It's a romantic comedy of sorts with dogs and pop culture references. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Best Regards,

GamerPrincessXI

Is it possible to learn this power? (Or however that meme goes...)

Same here, but again. Not brave enough. (Maybe when I start DRGN....)

Does not know how this will turn out....but am fascinated and a lil' scared.

Same here. I'm getting the popcorn ready to see what happens....

The really big question is will it pay off? I mean... if this person gets featured everyone will assume it's because of this and then everyone will try that's in the forum...

I for one can't wait for the nuclear firestorm of self-promotion that will ensue if this person succeeds in getting their comic chose by the staff with this topic!

Or....

more likely they get a private message from staff and we NEVER find out what happens.

Course.... they might say something on their own about what happened!

Three probabilities I'd say: Replied in private, get ignored, or just get their topic liked. I think the staff will know the future consequences of people trying to pull this feat, if they're getting promoted in the end (I'm sure it won't do good, for staffs and fellow creators)

PS: Regardless of context of this topic and its replies, good luck to OP @GamerPrincessXI and their extraordinary self-promotion. I hope you find suitable audience, you've pulled some display here.

Weird thought...

Does this mean the the Tapas Staff DOESN'T already check/monitor all series?

I think they do monitor and read, but not promoting and thoroughly read all of them.

If this one gets featured because of this in the end, many will try to do the same thing. Staffs got overwhelmed because can't promote all, some creators might get disappointed.

Sorry if I get it wrong

I think it's hard for them to do so. Think about how many there are. I'm sure they have people assigned to look at particular content areas- but even then they will not have time to check every single one every time it updates. Not when they have novels as well

That's the thing though...

If they're reading everyone's series, then this can't overwhelm them because they all ready know about ...

...and have an opinion of it.

Or more likely...

This scenario.... and this bold move brings the series to their attention.

I am intrigued.

But that's the thing, this comic may have backed themselves into an unexpected corner.

If the tapas staff promotes them now, anytime I'd say in the next 2 months when this thread is fresh in folks memories- people will for sure assume it was because this author reached out to them directly in the forum. This will cause- in all likelihood - a flood of people wanting to catch the eye of the staff as well. If I was the staff, this would make it so they COULDN'T get promoted for as long as 6 months (best case) to ensure the memory of this thread was good and gone. This means if they were going to catch their eye naturally in the next month or so, they prevented themselves from getting that promotion. If they weren't, then maybe they'll get promoted at a later date when the promotion wouldn't be likely to be connected to this thread.

Worst case situation, they may NEVER be able to be promoted for this comic in anything that's picked by staff. It's the same reasoning why many writers will refuse to read fan fiction about their works. They do not want anyone thinking that they published something that a fan wrote. It gives the wrong impression of what the writer was doing.

Look, I like this site a lot but there's a certain "weight" to things around here.

It's hard to build a sizable fan base without the in house advertising of the front page...but you can only get there by means of an algorithm that has some wonky edges ...OR by being noticed by staff.

@GamerPrincessXI is taking their shot while it's still on the table. It's risky sure... but it's got a higher reward quota than the other path.

idk what's going on but it's adorable. did not disappoint.
cheering for you regarding @'ing STAFF

//totally not keeping eyes on how this will turn out..... for future reference, of course

meanwhile STAFF looking at this topic...

There are 1.762 pages, and each of them contains 30 comics => there are more than 50.000 comics in total.

There are 257 pages, and each of them contains 30 novels => there are more than 7.000 novels in total.

I don't think that Tapas have enough workers for reading ALL of this... the best I can suppose is very superficial monitoring for the most of fresh series. I think that they are able to pay thoughtful attention only to some of works.

Maybe they have a criteria. I mean, if a comic lasts a certain amount of time... certain work or panel count then they try to check it out? It's a thought.

this sounds likely. though id like to know how many new series are launched a day - maybe staff keep an eye on new series, as most staff picks are in their early stages. this would also mean new series are at a major advantage over old ones

I suppose that they may also look at "popular" and "trending" from time to time for picking.

oh totes.

theres also daily snack to consider; they feature series that arent very new and arent very popular, so maybe there is a bit more active curation involved?

That's what I think. They surely have everyone assigned to check stuff every so often.

I've only had the staff like my first page when I was new to Tapas :'D that was still the days when it was Tapastic and the site was pretty new...

Nowadays there are just so many comic series and creators in the site... Welp, good luck @GamerPrincessXI and your bold way of promotion ahah

Which from various theories, is also an advantage in other sites algorithms.

If analytically motivated creators start acting on this information, categories and archives are going to get flooded with shorter and shorter projects. Longform is possibly gonna get buried outside of premium comics.

Update: Hi, Its been a couple since the last post to the thread....

The staff didn't dm me like everyone hoped lol. But, I read everyone's post and hearted everything. Thank you for r-reading my story. I hope everyone enjoyed it.

Also, I'm currently working on something new.

This is still one of the greatest power moves I have seen pulled on the forums and even though it didn't seem to pan out like you had planned, you still had the confidence and guts to actually go through it and for that, you have my eternal respect and I salute you.
