So if there's on thing that seems to be consistent in creative circles is self bashing or us being our own worst enemy when it comes to forming opinions about our work. Maybe not everyone experiences it but it obviously exists.
So I'm hoping to share some creative affirmations and things that we can do ourselves or within the community to try and keep ourselves boosted even if only a little. Others are invited to share things they do or say as well
So to start for some of my own habits:
Find one thing about your art or writing that you like even if it's something small
It's really easy to point out negative but even if you're not please with the entirety of something there's usually still one small detail that you might like. It may be a learning cure but I've found it's a good way to build towards being more positive about what you make
Give yourself credit/take the compliment
A bad habit I used to have is taking a given compliment and twisting it to something not as positive or give some reason for it to be undeserved. The thing is not everything we make is bad not everything sucks and I don't think people would support content creators out of spite or to watch them fall (or at least i would hope not). Sometimes even though it's tough it's okay to go "yeah I guess that was good thank you". No one's saying you gotta respond directly (usually i just pop a like onto those comments) but sometimes it helps to accept the kind words given even if there's self doubt.
Be confident (even if you gotta fake it)
I'm still working on this one but it does help. Some people might not like the "fake it till you make it" type of attitude but if you can't find the confidence in yourself sometimes emulating the confidence you want to have helps you get used to expressing and having it yourself (or at least that's my take) The was a Steve Harvey clip that talked about that kind of thing but the gist was to shape yourself into who you want to be even if you might not be feeling it because the more you do it the more you'l be used to it and the better you'll be at it. Now that's not saying be pretentious or something but just work towards being secure in who you are
Now again no ones gotta follow these, it's not some set in stone rule or hard law just suggestions and things i've done and like I'd said others feel free to share your own tips/tricks or just general positive thoughts as well
