Amara leapt backward further and set Leiyu down. She cast a protective barrier around him. “Stay here. I’ll be back soon.”

Leiyu stared at her as his breath quickened. Amara unsheathed her dagger and extended it into a sword. She and Astatine faced each other.

Astatine made the first move. He sent a barrage of dark waves toward her. Wanting to keep Leiyu out of harm’s way, even with the protective barrier around him, Amara leapt forward and met the waves head-on. She slashed her sword and deflected the oncoming waves with an explosion of flame. Streaks of light and darkness arched through the air like fireworks. Sparks bounced against the protective barrier surrounding Leiyu. He stared at them with his mouth agape.

With this episode I'm all caught up on my schedule. It helped that this was one one of the shorter episodes. While the dogs are off stage interrogating Phong, Jamie and Taylor discuss why Taylor is even bothering with all this. At the same time Vincent brings some information that leads everybody to think that the Monkey is up to something. They don't get much time to think about it as events compel them to go to Alexandria. (Minnesota – not Egypt)

Here I go - a piece from my latest chapter:

The tall man took the sword stuck in the creature and removed it from there without much effort. As soon as he removed the piercing object from the puppet, it fell to the ground, inert and useless, as if it had returned to being a mere puppet. The blade flashed in one wrist and then went out. The man shook the sword and turned to Mine.

"A meat shield isn't the best option, little beauty," the man approached Mine, crouching.

Mine squinted as he held Addai close, who was starting to wake up as his eyes trembled under the closed eyelids. "… Fruit Ninja guy?"

The man grinned joyfully and bowed, posing like he had just finished a great show. But before he got to open his nonchalant mouth, Mephistopheles, with his eyes bulging in anger, pointed at the man.

"Where the fuck have you been, Azazel?!"

"He's about my age."

Damian says, clutching his black coat tightly around his shivering body. He hops from foot to foot, trying to keep them from going numb as his teeth chattered.

It was a chilly 20 degrees tonight. Not cold enough for snow, but instead the weather produced a freezing drizzle, causing his brown curls to stick to his forehead.

Ash, however, was unfazed by the freezing temperature. He didn’t blink when the rain fell in his eyes nor did he shiver as the cold breeze swept through his perfectly combed back hair. He stood rim rod straight, his hand casually resting in his pockets as he stared down at the unfortunate victim.

The man’s eye brows furrowed causing cracks in his smooth pale forehead—the only indication that he wasn’t a statue— and a small frown graced his colorless lips.

The whole alleyway was thick with the smell of fresh blood. Not even the rain washed it away. It made his teeth ache. He absentmindedly licked his sharpened canines.

It was time for dinner.

Opening of my newest novel

“Thallios, I got you something from the market.”

Leiyu entered the cottage where he and Thallios had been living for the last few months. It was small and tucked away in the countryside, nestled within a copse of trees. The nearest town was more than an hour’s journey away, and Leiyu went there once a week to buy food and supplies. Every time he set out, he placed invisibility talismans on the cottage’s outer walls to make it invisible to passersby. He also placed alarm talismans on the surrounding trees so that he would be alerted if anyone crossed the perimeter. The talismans’ powers wore off after a few hours, so he always made sure to return before then.

Thallios ran to the door to greet him. Leiyu held out a small cloth bundle and unwrapped it. A delicate milky white ornament lay in the middle. One end was curved like a wispy cloud and the rest of it was elongated and flat.

“Oh! It’s beautiful!” Thallios exclaimed. “What is it?”

“He cut me off mid-sentence,” he uttered with a weary exhale. “To exhibit such flagrant disregard towards a man of the cloth... Does this reflect a broader sentiment of disdain towards our world's holy institution among the populace?”

“I wouldn't take it so seriously,” I reassured him, trying to be delicate. “He may have simply not been intelligent enough to grasp your message.”

“Are you suggesting that my articulation lacked clarity?” he asked, his brow furrowing.

Crap. “Um... Sometimes... you say things so profound that us ordinary folks can't comprehend it...”

He turned his full azure gaze to me. “Us? Then... you, too, have trouble with my words? Did you not mean it when you said they were eloquent?”

Well, yes, but also no...

I desperately looked around at the others and tried fixing them with a mental command. Someone else needs to take over this conversation right now!

“You know she can't answer that either way,” Vernie remarked, much to my relief. “Poor thing's going to call herself stupid or lie to your face.”

When the President said to immerse ourselves in the project, this was NOT what I had in mind!

Kiet's grip on Milo's arm was ironclad as he dragged him toward the sleek, black car parked outside. The neighborhood had fallen eerily silent, the usual bustle replaced by a tense stillness as Kiet's men stood guard, their presence alone enough to deter any curious onlookers.

"Get in," Kiet ordered, opening the car door and shoving Milo inside.

Milo hesitated for a moment, glancing back at his home one last time, and it made his heart ache. He climbed into the car, the door slamming shut behind him with a finality that sent a shiver down his spine.
