Princesses, Female Leads and OCs (but only with body types OTHER then 2 lbs. and an hourglass)

yeah, I have some long faces, but they typically are on my male characters, so I'm doing some female characters with longer faces.

I see you’re using more values in her tone too :)! It’s cool to see the progress you’re making.

Yeah I’m realizing I draw so many long faces I have a few shorter faces tho, oddly enough one of the antagonists I have has a short heart shaped face, but she’s a but more gray def not good but I wouldn’t consider her completely as bad as some of the other antagonists. She also has giant wide eyes which I think goes against what people typically do for their villains

And I think her features are more visible now! I think what would help even more is if you put the highlights in her cheek? But that could be a but more complicated. I draw in such a different style I feel like I’m bad at giving tips.

yeah, i've gotta learn how to do highlights on cheeks. I'm trying but i feel like i always do them in the wrong place when I've practiced so far. and yeah, big eyes aren't typically associated with villains i think

Looking up tutorials from artists work you like can be helpful too! Especially with a more cartoony style I bet there’s some tips on YouTube or something. That other thread also had really good resources where people were sharing artists and such.

Keep on practicing, doing little studies can be helpful too, like of others people art that you feel inspired by. Sometimes it helps to recreate a favorite piece by another artist because it teaches us how to get there. I think art is a continuous learning process, I’m still learning things to do and practice often :0 but most of all have fun with it!!

I love him!! Although I think you have good balance with your face shapes, like Mev is very rounded and shorter in the face, and his brother is like in between and more square! It makes for good character design :D!! They all got their distinct looks.

Yeah, I do try to give all my characters different face shapes to fit their personality/character. Ian’s brother is a very rule-abiding character. Not exactly strict, but very lawful-good. I feel like a squarish head kinda represents that. Same goes for Ian’s head. His design gives lots of villain vibes, especially his long, sharp face. Although he’s not exactly a villain, he’s a pretty morally grey character in certain aspects.
As for Mev, can you imagine her with any other face shape? 🤣 I wanna say that it’s because she’s a short queen so her face should be short too, but my most recent character, Victor, has a long pointy face while being a short king. Actually- it’s probably her happy personality. All of my round-faced characters are pretty happy I realize…

Probably because round faces are associated with being childish, though I have two very less than happy OCs with very round faces, actually more than two, one of whom is an actual child

My first rough sketch of Rudy who debuts next week in "Damsel in the Red Dress" I got her gist but I still need to slim her face up a bit and soften the angels. It's supposed to be rectangular but not quite this rectangular lol on my pretty, frumpy giantess

Mora continues to dominate my art rn. Here she's drawn in the style of my comic "Sketchy Business" so I made her hair pure purple, though it usually just has streaks from her vitiligo

Well, Therese is definitely more of a queen than a princess at her age, but she still doesn't 100-percent fit the beauty standard because of the secret she keeps carefully concealed under her outfits

And Mara McNozie, I think her big nose is enough to make her standout form the beauty standard, but she's also very short and pretty brown as well

Mandy's got a pretty square face, which isn't a big thing for girls, and she's on the wider side because she's an athlete and pretty muscular. I want to make her face a little longer tho as I'm not quite satisfied with her design yet.
