endemic

Flowers have an unusual amount of relevance in the world of "Crystal Blue" because they are used to repel dragons. Thus, the fact that a kind of iris known as Fangsbane is endemic to Iris Wood, where my female lead Mora grew up, ended up being mentioned in the fourth chapter.

I used the word "exude" in chapter three... it means "To ooze forth." If that's not the best definition of a word ever, I don't know what is.

Seiche: a rhythmic oscillation in a lake or partially enclosed body of water that results in a higher water level due to changes in atmospheric pressure. Basically a still wave. It's also the name of Mancer's water spirit.

gyros: this isn't that weird, but what's funnier is my male lead's definition of them:

After a week of Kattar’s gloom and one week before the party, I told him I would come, and I could read his relief as he smiled, “Oh, good. I was worried you would miss out on all the cool stuff my mom is planning. You’ve never gotten to try gyros before, right?”

“No.”

“You’ll love them. They’re sort of like Greek tacos…”
