Question: Should I keep plublishing single pages, or collect the pages?

In other words, I have been putting each page up as an episode, because that's the way I draw them. Should I go back and edit them to be all on the same episode? Looks easy to do, but how do you people who use the service feel about it?

It depends on how you update it, I kind of find it more convenient to put 3-5 pages in one episode because I update my episodes weekly and I don't want my viewers to just read one page a week. If you update daily I guess it could be helpful to have one page per episode but it might disrupt the flow of the comic for the readers just because it's less convenient to skip than to scroll

I think because of the slower introduction (meaning not a lot happens per page) it would do you better to merge single pages into longer episodes

I really, reeeeally don't like it when creators I follow merge their pages into a single episode AFTER they've been posted as separate episodes. Why? The comments get lost in the process, and I feel like they don't care about comments when they do that.

People say they feel like separate pages 'break up the flow' of the story. But in my opinion, if you're not paying for the content, you don't really get to input how that content should be served up, especially when more pages = more ad views for you.

IMO, keep your pages as is.

Keep it as it is, it's more work for you and your followers might only have had time to read half of it, if you collect everything now they'll lose track of where they're at and get disappointed.

I'm posting page by page, because that's how I'm used to reading webcomics, and I feel more comfortable with it; when something is drawn page by page, it probably works better to read that way. Otherwise, it's easy to end up with a situation where the reader can't really tell where one page ends and another begins, because they're stacked on top of one another.

Also, when drawing page by page, you most likely compose your panels and such to be read a single page at the time. Unless you draw each page with a scrolling reading-method in mind, it might come off looking a bit weird.

Also, scrolling for long chunks of time bothers me, even on mobile devices, because I find it easy to lose my place - page-by-page, on the other hand, is easier for me to keep track of.

I would post every page as an episode.

Reasons:
- every new episode gives you the chance to appear in fresh (free advertising)
- people can comment on a single page and share what they like about it, instead of having to comment on a whole scroll
- more likes
- quick loading times
- I quickly feel exhausted when i have to read more than five pages in a row with every update. That's maybe just me, but I prefer shorter updates (no problem if there are more updates then, as long as the chunks aren't too overwhelming)

I like how @Jrej splits up Shades of Men, there are two series, one for page-by-page and one that updates only in chapter bulks. I subbed to the chapter one because I tend to binge read. I like having those options.

Having two series for that sort of thing seams excessive though I can't say it's a bad idea. Just this week I had to give up reading two interesting looking series because the single page episodes killed the pacing so bad the immersion was killed. But if they had made a seperate chapter series I can't say I wouldn't have subscribed. Maybe it's a thing page based artists should consider.
It would be cool if Taptastic would implement some sort of way for for like…… stitched reading? Maybe being able to select a group of pages to read together…

For me it really depends, sometimes I have up to five pages to publish and others just one, but I eventually merge them into one episode to make it more neat, it's what I'm comfortable doing. I only upload in new episodes just so I can make it to the fresh section. When I merge the episodes yeah I may lose some awesome comments but it's not like I don't appreciate them, it's just that if I don't merge them eventually I will lose my mind! @_@ Some like having one page per episode, some like having up to let's say three pages per episode and pretty much the rest like filling up their episodes, I so happen to like filling up mine.

I thinks we should be able to edit an episode and have it count as a real update if the number of files within the episode got bigger. I'm not sure I'm clear...

Let's say I have an episode with three files in it.
- I edit it to correct a typo. After my editing, it still contains three files so it doesn't count as an update but I can notify my subscribers (as it is already the case)
- I edit it to add the new page I've just finished. There is now four files in my episode. The site automatically considers it an update and my comics bravely makes it to the fresh section (yay !)

That way an author could decide to have his story organised in whole chapters or separate his chapters into bunks of five pages or whatever, even if he can only produce one page a week (and his subscribers would still have to read only one page a week...)

I've already talked about this on another topic but didn't get any answers... I'd like to hear your opinions though (note that I don't know a thing about programation so... yeah.)

This right here was reason enough to keep it the way it is. I am getting some nice conversations on my comments pages, and I hadn't considered the fact that I would lose those. Thanks, Keii!

And then there's this. Those few cents a month are actually nice at this point, even though I haven't made enough to be able to transfer them, and at this rate, won't for more than a year, it's nice to see the pennies adding up.

I did have doubts on the approach of two different series.
I think it gives the option for the readers to choose.
Posting by chapters does flow better in the end...

It's not ideal but it works for me so far!
