Queue for Spotlight?

I wanted to ask if there's anywhere authors can queue up for a place in the Spotlight feature, or if anyone knows how the selection process works.

I believe the Tapastic staff will actually approach you if they are interested and ask for a banner to be made via dm. That's what I'm guessing at least. Don't think you can just "ask" them too. But your comic is really cute though so maybe they'll consider you sometime ; v ;

You absolutely can email staff with a comic you'd like to suggest as a featured comic, and it can be your own!

Anyway, individual recommendations are ALWAYS welcome, however, I don't think we should necessarily build a feature for that. Simply because we are severely understaffed in order to handle something like that. @keii4ii is correct when they say that it's really only one person doing a majority of the curation and I do rely very heavily on metric based curation.

I'm DEFINITELY guilty of missing a ton of great comics that should have made it on the Staff Picks/New and Noteworthy section. But I am happy to look at any recommendations that any of you might have for series that you think deserve some more exposure in that section. However, please note that I'm not always able to reply to your messages or always able to accommodate. Remember that you are suggesting titles for the section.

They don't actually take voluntary banners anymore, i did email him about it.

That's a shame that they don't take voluntary banners anymore, but I can understand it too. They have a certain standard for their banners, so they were probably just overworked with the influx of banners that probably didn't meet said standards (and there are even more they have to deal with on the app for the app's exclusive banners and stuff).

I'd like to see them bring back voluntary banners sometime, maybe with more defined regulation/standards, but we'll just have to wait and see

Also, voluntary banners sound cool, but I can understand why they aren't accepting those anymore for now.

This is mostly about slice-of-life comics, but personally it's if creators posts:
- too many irrelevant wall posts
- an excessive amount of Q&A strips
- more "sorry for not making a comic strip" than any actual content
- a lot of artwork instead of the content I subscribed for
- a lot of comics that involve inside jokes or people that I don't know about

If it's a fictional long-form comic then it's usually because I've forgotten what the story's about
