Home built desktop. The hubby and brother in law built it. BIL swore he knew what he was doing and not to worry because he was gonna buy a bunch of stuff... then couldn't afford it and we were half broke at the time so all the parts, including the graphics card, got really cheaped out on. It's been limping for months so we checked everything and it's the ram (easy fix) and the graphics card. Sadly, at least in the US, because people are buying up graphics cards like they are going out of style (bitcoin related I hear?) the cheapest cards we can find are like....2 grand. At that point might as well get a whole new comp.
Took a LOT of fussing but he finally stopped freaking out on he prices and let me use my bonus to get him one that matches the specs he needs. Only the ram is on the low (but acceptable) end and we can replace that later.
What kills me is the BIL knew we've been having bunch of computer issues and last week he was like "Don't worry, I'll build ya a new one for next Christmas."
