I very much agree. I have found the main issue with my writing is that I often build up these characters that folks love, but the deaths feel off put. I.e. my last novel I had a bunch of people dying at the end, including two main characters.
But, their deaths didn't feel right (both got beheaded for treason). Sometimes I think authors need to really construct the parts to a path instead of going in for the kill shot. In a sense, I agree. I think that having these sudden shots can be really just ruin the flow of a story. Big reason why I am disappointed with my last novel.
I gotcha, and you make a good point. Definitely taking a few pointers away from this to work on my next scheduled death.
