Which of your characters suprised you/surprises you the most?
Whether is be because they made a drastic character change at some point in the story or their development, or "wrote themself" a scene that was really unexpected when the idea came to you.
In "Damsel in the Red Dress" I think that's hard to judge, since many of my characters have a surprising twist or side to them, but maybe the one that seems most surprising when you know her character is Melissa. I don't want to give too many spoilers, since I know how much the readers love her and they probably want to get to know more about her, but her backstory is surprisingly tragic for such a sweet and cheerful little angel.
The one that surprised ME the most though, is probably Alicia. Originally I had planned for her parents to have had a divorce that wasn't explained very much, but it's become complicated, relating to a lot of factors that go WAY deep, and make the plot quite and intricately tangled web.
In "A Dozen Morning Glories" it's probably the Giang siblings. Yeah, this is multiple characters, but so I'll just say Dominic because of a nuance of his character that surprised me when I wrote it in. despite hating that his older sister smokes because it's bad for her and he worries, he finds the smell of cigarette smoke comforting because he associates it with his teen years when she would come and pick him and his little sister up in her car and take them out for ice cream and such to cheer them up since their lives are, quite frankly, awful. For a green freak character who makes very conscious choices about not driving to try to preserve the environment and such, liking the smell of cigarettes feels really dichotomous, and yet it makes sense for his backstory.
