Recomendations for Books on Storytelling/Screenplay?

Hi Guys!

My Birthday is aproaching, and since I´ve been wanting to invest in some Books on Storytelling for a while now, I felt this was the perfect oportunity.

I´d love recomendations for Books that personally have helped you a lot, show specific aproaches to Story Telling or even some classics, that "you just need to read". Alternatively, If you know Books that dive into Storyboarding, or advanced books on Comic Creation, please tell me all about them, too.

A must have, in my opinion, is Scott McCloud's trilogy: "Understanding comics", "Making comics" and "Reinventing comics".

Save the Cat by Blake Snyder << a catchy small book with a lot of useful info on screenplay

Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting by Robert McKee << I credit this book with teaching me the core foundation of solid storytelling. I honestly believe I had a quantum leap in learning thanks to applying this info in my stories.

Other books just good for story telling is On Writing by Stephen King and Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury.

Anatomy of a Story by John Truby is a good one

This one by the guy who wrote Princess Bride (and a lot more) is great.

Someone reccomended it already but Save the Cat is great. Hate the way Blake Snyder writes but its been the most useful book.

Also surprised nobody reccomended and Syd Fields books. Screenplay is basically one of the most important books.

Also not screenwriting specific but for comics one of my favorites is Cartooning: Practice and Philosophy by Ivan Brunetti. Its very good for helping you generatebideas and put all your ideas in order in a similar way to those screenwriting books

Check out Masterclass has a great section of different authors and their explaining their craft in short videos. the RL stein one was very valuable to me

anything by will eisner is a solid choice!

i also recently got matt maddens 99 ways to tell a story, which tells the same short story in 99 different approaches to comics - its not very serious and often quite funny, but an eye opening exploration in style and approach that could open some doors in your mind
