Your timing was perfect before I closed the window, haha.
Unfortunately, I don't take short stories, only full-length novels (ongoing or completed); although, longer novellas are okay. Basically, as long as they're at bare minimum, a few thousand words more than 20k (which is the point at which I aggregate an informative Story Post), then it's acceptable by the website's established assessment formats.
I largely don't take short stories because the criteria is much more blurred in assessing all genres and styles fairly. For instance, plot is a major component in a novel, but in a short story, it could very well be successful without having the standard point by point building to a climax form typically developed in novels. In some cases, the plot might almost be nonexistent where the story is simply to deliver a message, or so abrupt/short like in a horror/thriller.
Essentially, length is a huge component. A short story of 500-1000 words is much different from one which is 10,000-20,000 (which is the threshold I'm using to differentiate what's considered a short story for the website's standard). And thus, any scales used would simply be inadequate and unfair---it couldn't equalize the stories to some clear scoring standard that's easily applicable across hundreds. In short, my go to 30k words and above at minimum.
Regardless, I still take a personal look at all stories. Thanks for all the recommendations! @ivanskilling
