Recommended sites to post novels of certain genres?

Scrapper sites work on almost every work regardless of popularity. Like everything.

If you immediately get a mysterious view after publishing, that's probably one. It does not copy your series and rather act as a repository. I heard it is to enhance site's SEO or something.

Recommended or not, it depends on many factors and your own end goal. Some factors have been covered by posters above.

It is a bit a hassle to set up your new series on RR as you have to prove it is yours, and wait for approval before you can have it published to the mass. Same with deleting, you have to contact the site moderator or admin I think.

Also RR have rating and review system, which many people on Tapas prefer not having. You can exchange reviews for feedback and readership (though it can be hit-or-miss). It also can be abused and results to your series being downrated for no reason, or for petty reasons (e.g. being romance or BL)

Yup, I saw some people get spammed by bots to get voted down for no reason. It seems some readers in royal road are very critic to things they don't like.
But the scrapper site is a problem.
Can't say I am enthusiastic of posting in a site that has obvious security issues. But who knows might try it later on.

If you're based out of the US, I recommend Amazon's platform. It's pretty straightforward and you can earn a little money without having to jump through all the hoops other platforms due to qualify for revenue.

Yeah. It's pretty straightforward. You set up a KDP account so you can get paid. Then you upload the story. Chapters have to be between 600-5000 words, which equates to 6-50 tokens. You get paid based off the tokens spent on the chapter.

It's actually pretty good. I only saw regular amazon books. Not kindle vella. The downside is that kindle vella does not allow you to have your work posted for free elsewhere if it is behind a paywall it is fine. That being said. I will check it out before deciding to post on tapas or kindle vella.

It seems kindle vella is only available to read for people in the US.
Tapas will give me a larger audience in the sense that my novel can be read outside the US.

Which is fair. I opted for KV because I'd gotten to the point on Tapas where people start thinking "what next for their webnovel". Pitching to premium wasn't the best option for me for that particular story. But I have a Vella now that I wish I'd posted to Tapas in hindsight because people don't see the humor in it that I do. If I found the right story, I'd definitely post it here on Tapas.

It seems you can't be an author on kindle vella outside the US for now. But I will keep an eye out if they ever go global.

Thanks how safe is it for authors if you get a contract and stuff? Well, how friendly is it for authors. I saw you keep your ownership but idk if that applies with a contract.

Pretty safe. I have seen contracts on several different sites. This one by far is the most fair, at least in my opinion. I have 2 stories with them and have been with them over a year (before app launch) and seen how they handle growth. I keep all rights (all the other authors will tell you the same) and I have a lot of say with the cover, the lore cards, and how the story progresses. I have also seen some authors leave the platform due to one having a kick starter become super successful and wanted to do that and another got picked up by a traditional publisher. As far as I can tell it was a clean break Mythrill kept the artwork they made and the author kept the story. There doesn't seem to be any bad blood. Personally, I'm sticking with them. I'm really happy with the marketing materials, the editing, and the artwork. They have paid me on time when I've hit withdrawal point and the quarter had finished. Super easy to report bugs and ask for an edit when you've missed something and it went live. They are working on an author portal, so right now it's mostly using google docs.

How good is the traffic? Does it accept GL or romance fantasy? Or simply sci-fi is the most accepted genre by the public?

Just saw that the app doesn't have any reviews yet. but it does let people write fantasy. Not sure about GL though .

It is newer, so traffic is still growing. I antipate it will keep growing steadily, but may hit a rapid growth point soon (one story broke 50K views recently). With it being curated and less saturated its easier to grow. Most are able to brake the 1K views mark. There's some that are nearing 10K and 2 over that. The app has reviews on google play, not sure about app store. It doesn't do strictly romance stories. It has to be another genre mainly. If you have love peppered in thats fine, but it can't be the main plot.

Sad. Guess it's not for me then. First story is mainly romance second story is sci-fi but it is mainly action. My second story will have multiple prequels and sequels each with a different main genre. All sci-fi.

They do all genres except Romance. The other would be fine. FMK will have sequels and possibly prequels. GOG has some shorts that expand on other characters that just got greenlit as a test. FMK and GOG have some romance, but it is not the main plot.

Yup, got it. Just don't want to separate my work. Among one of the prequels I needed to make a romance plot. It is important to the story series as a whole. Individually it does not affect the story. Still need it together. Can't expect fans to look at other sites to finish reading my work.
