Seek friend, or make thread?

Is it better to find a friend to collaborate with or make collaboration requests? I mean I'm kind of in a tricky situation as I'm more of a portrait or charcoal artist when I do art. I can kind of draw people, but really I'm mainly a poet and short story writer.

In such a situation, would it just be better to find someone to collaborate with? (I do mainly charcoal, cause I want to go for a gothic smoky feel.)

Not sure how easy it is to find someone that goes for charcoal type art. My scanner isn't compatible with Linux Mint, so I can't scan in things like I used to.

I tried to do collabs and all three times it wasn't worth it for me. If I can offer any advice it's having a strong communication. If you or your partner can't take criticism well it most likely will end in failure. If they aren't actually talking or not willing to make some sort of compromise (this includes yourself) then another issue can occur. If I did it over again I would literally seek out a friend only to help with communication, not to mention you actually know who you're working with.

I think a lot of my issue was I used to compromise to much. Although I'm still willing to compromise to some degree. I'll see if I can find a friend first then. I just don't know anybody who does art. Or at least only a certain kind of art. (Not comics.)
