Here is a snip of chapter one
It is a bright and sunny day; birds are singing, flowers are blooming and the grass is lush emerald green. A lady in a blue dress with long blond locks that almost drag on the floor looks to be mid-forties and is making pancakes. ”Lexy breakfast is ready” she shouted and winces as a thud, a crash, and the sound of things falling are heard from upstairs.
A young girl comes running down the stairs. She has blond fluffy hair and wide blue eyes filled with energy. She wheres a red pair of squarish goggles along with a light blue hoodie and dark blue jeans.” hey mom, oh, do I smell pancakes?”
Lexy said ecstatically and she began to help set the table for breakfast and once done she sits down to enjoy the pancakes her mother made.
The blonde ate happily and her mother sighs “Lexy I am going on a business trip for the summer and I thought it would be good for you to be staying with some relatives for the summer. Ok?”
Lexy nods, she is used to her mom going on moment notice business trips so this did not surprise her however what dose is the fact that she's not leaving her alone usually she would leave her home with money and someone who was sent by her mother would come and check on her.
The blond pondered for a moment a frown forming on her face “Ok when will I leave? Because I have regionals for archery next week remember?” she states concerned.
Her mother looks down a glimmer of guilt in her eyes. Not wanting to look into her child's eyes as she says this “Today I planed this since it is your first day out of the homeschooling program”
Lexy breaths out in frustration. "You can't be serious," she thinks to herself "but what about regionals? you had promised that if I made fifth place or higher in the last archery competition you would take me. I, made, first, and what about the shooting range so I could practice with the rifles?” the blond grits out in anger.
Her mother gives a sharp glare “excuse me?” The blond huffs knowing to argue with her mother leads nowhere. She scowls and stays quite not sure if she wants to fight with her mom today.
So after the two finished breakfast and tidied up, Lexy goes upstairs to her room. She puts the essential clothing in her bag and realized she has some free space so she decides to take a case filled with her favorite trophies from competitions so she would feel more at home where ever she went.
She also almost forgot to grab her medication in which she has to take every five days.
In all onsite, she has no idea why. she doesn’t have any mental problems or any disorder. What she does know Is it is not a disease but when she doesn't take her medicine it makes her feel like her body hates her with a passion.
Before she puts the case close there is one last thing she wants to see. she opens a case and takes her most precious item out. Her father's knife or at least it's what her mom told her when she gave it to her. Said that her father wanted to give it to her when she was three.
The blond sighs and puts the knife back and gives it one last glance. She still doesn't know what the symbol means that's engraved into it. With that, she puts it back into the case. She sets the case back on the shelf knowing the airport would never let that slide.
With that, she closes her suitcase and heads downstairs to see her mother waiting for her ready to go.
The drive to the airport was filled with silence. Until they pulled up to the drop-off. Her mom pos the trunk and Lexy gets her luggage out of the vehicle.
The blond walks back to her mother about to say goodbye with her airport ticket in hand. When her mother sighs as she takes out an envelope and a fifty-dollar bill “alright hand this to the head of the household and this should cover a Taxi along with a few snacks.”
Her mother hands her the envelope and a fifty-dollar bill. “and please be careful.”
The blond smirks “what I'm always careful.”
Her mother raises a brow and the blond shrugs “ok, just careful sometimes.”
Her mom smiles and waves the blond goodbye as she leaves.
. Lexy turns in her ticket and gets on the plane. She is heading to Kansas. Her flight only took about one hour and thirty minutes. It was about noon when the plane lands.
Lexy went to the front of the airport and got a cab ”um sun grove rode 1242 please” The diver looked at her a little weird and nods and she got in. the driver went through what looked like one of those nice country towns you see in movies it is not small but not LA either.
After getting thru the town the driver started going down a single road that was well maintained and looked very nice. There were giant oak trees that created an overlay that made Lexy wanna squeal. It made her feel like she was in a magical book.
Finally at the end of the road was a huge Victorian-style mansion. Lexy is flabbergasted by the lavash house with symmetrical brushing and intricate designs.
She notes the empty pedestals around the house but doesn't pay it mind. The cab parks and Lexy grabbed her luggage. She turns to the driver and gives him his money and they drove off.” well no turning back now”.
She walked up to the house and knocked. No response. She was about to knock again but someone opened the door it was a butler. The butler looks at her and sighs “we don't take girl scout cookies” he says with a french accent and a dry tone.
Lexy is confused about his response and then she remembered she isn't exactly very tall compared to how tall normal thirteen-year-olds “oh no I'm not a girl scout. I was told to come here by my mom and I know it sounds weird now that I say that out loud but ist true I even have a letter for the owner or the head person whatever you want to say and I'm Lexy”
The butler gives her a skeptical look but went with it “Sir Thokath someone is here to see you …. Someone named Lexy”? The butler announces inside. The man leads her inside.
Lexy is astounded by the marvelous interior that looked to be ripped out of a book of myth and imperial castles.
It is then that a man with a cane and dressed in a very elegant suit comes down the stairs. His hair is snow-white and his eyes are a piercing red. She presumes this is Thokath.)
