Sorry but I have to be judgemental now, especially when not only do I work with the manga style but also as one who has ready many different mangas from many different mangakas.
There are tons of different mangas, of may different styles. Shounen, Shoujou, Seinen or Josei. Many mangas will often mix different demographics together. Hunter X Hunter is often said to be a Seinen disguised as a Shounen. Mangaka's each have their own style, some even go for a very realistic expression usually seen in Seinen such as Araki Hirohiko's "JoJo's Bizzare Adventure." In fact even over time the way mangas have looked have changed and adapted over time.
It's hard for some people to believe that "Fist of the North Star" is a a Shounen manga with its detailed artwork and copious amounts of violence. Even the opposite works, though this is the anime. "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" is designed in a way to resemble a more Shounen/Shoujou style but the story itself is very much Seinen.
Heck, if someone didn't know any better, if you showed them an episode of "Panty and Stocking" they'd probably think Adult Swim was hosting a new show. They would have no idea that it was by the same people who worked on series like "Evangelion" or " Gurren Lagann"
So yeah, I won't lie when I read something like this, it upsets me because that's simply not how all mangas or animes are like.
