Sonia: Legends of Eternal Darkness is the first novel I ever started writing. I often loved action-adventure series, and always wanted to create something of my own in terms of a series. It went through different changes, starting out as more of a tribal story akin to the book series, Warriors, something I was deep into at the time because of the different factions and such, especially with Rusty's growth to becoming a true Warrior. But it wasn't until I started rewatching shows like a dash of Sailor Moon, a sprinkle of The New Batman Adventures, some finely chopped bits of Static Shock and Samurai Jack, all coursed over a sizzling dish of My Life As A Teenage Robot is where I started to turn things around. Some elements stuck around, while others (like Sonia herself) were changed up quite a lot.
One thing's for certain though, is that I always kept her as a redhead. I like redheads, and the Gingers Steal Souls joke still makes me laugh (and is kinda ironic as I write every new story based on her since that's her joke now).
For me, I try to write my works more like an orchestrated theatrical animated movie, especially when it came to Solaria, the major villain and one illustrious, menacing demon. I love movies with such an orchestrated score because feel like they can drive a story forward once you get into it (especially when certain segments can mimic character movements that play in my head for each scene).
Its quite a ride when writing Sonia. So much so that when I wanna break away from it for a bit but stay in the universe, I have a spin-off series that detail the usual muses of the series' local town through the eyes of another set of characters. Maybe because its the first novel series I've written (despite the character being the 4th in creation), but I can never break away from it. Not even when my other series are getting the attention. It's so much fun, and I want to see every new story play out until I fully put the series to rest.
