Should multipl social media accounts have the same art?

Some of you might recognize me from my post an hour ago about.. yep social media. I just got an Instagram account and I have another question. Do artists usually post the same things across all their accounts? I have some art from my twitter that I am considering to copy to Instagram. Thanks!

Eh, I like to keep it slightly different. That way if someone follows me on multiple accounts they won't get bored. So on my instagram I'll have wips, sketches, photos from my real life, and crops of finished pieces telling followers to see the whole thing on my tumblr if they wish. On my tumblr I have my finished illustrations, comics, doodles, and particularly good sketches.

I'd say try both for now and see if one type does better on one platform over the other.

I'm the lazy type that posts my art all the places. I can't figure out the logistics of having different things different places, I just end up confusing myself.

What I usually do is submit my art to DeviantArt and then link to it on my Twitter with a low resolution version, and also throw the link on my facebook.

Generally I have a feeling different people follow me different places. Facebook is mostly family and irl friends, while twitter mainly are people from the webcomic community, and... well a bit of everything on dA. There's a bit of overlap there...

Sometimes I also just take some pictures of wips on my phone and put them on Twitter, just because that's convienient.

As someone who's extremly guilty of sharing my new comic in several places without variation in content, I just think that different platforms have different audiences.

Sure, there's some user-overlap that can't be avoided, but before I started setting up for real I had people ask where I was gonna post and that they avoided certain sites, because it would mean registering a new account. So people will always gravitate towards a platform they're already on. And that runs the whole range from facebook, to tumblr, to twitter, deviantArt, dedicated webcomic hosting, whathaveyou.

We post the same comic updates here and on a free Wordpress blog, plus the same notification of updates on Twitter and our FB page. We only post once a week though.

I think the audience for each is different. When promoting my updates I give the option of either Tapas or Wordpress.

I try to limit the social media accounts I have to a) prevent this and b) prevent myself from getting a headache. There are some slight differences. I feel chattier on Twitter, messier on Tumblr and pretty to the point on Tapas.
