Should you "park" comics that are not as popular as your others?

I have one series that at times doesn't seem to be as popular as the others. Part of it may be down to the fact that it's my only black and white series: I kind of like the evocative feel of it though. Given that there seems to be a gulf in popularity should I put on hiatus or persevere? Should I create anew colour series? I have four series at the moment and it does take me time to update date each one, is that too much? How many do others run at the same time?

Do you want to keep creating that comic? Then do it. Don't worry about how popular it is. Make the things you want to make.

If we only made things because they were popular, nobody would ever make anything that meant anything. And if you're in webcomics for popularity, you're in the wrong game, honestly.

I have one main on-going series on Tapastic, one sketchcomic I post on Twitter/Tumblr in multi-page "episodes", and I've done a few oneshots, besides my freelance work.

It does help to focus a bit, and to try to not do ALL the things at once - but I tend to prioritise according to what I want to make, not based on how popular the thing is with other people.

Thanks, all good advice. I guess I worry about stretching myself a bit thin and not achieving as much as if I were more focused / had less projects

Totally agree with @AnnaLandin. If you want to keep doing it and, most importantly enjoy doing it then keep at it. It's funny with Black & White comics (which mine is), I feel that they're very polarising. People love 'em or hate 'em, there doesn't usually seem to be an in-between.

Thanks yes it's odd isn't it. A bit like black and white movies: my mum finds them really atmospheric and beautiful and my dad can't stand them!

If you enjoy it, just keep going with it.
I get really disappointed when I find a great comic only to realize it's been put on hold by the creator to work on a different one.

As for myself, I currently have 3 series going (2 of which are in color). I do everything myself so 4 days out of a 5 day work week I'm working on one of the comics. It is definitely a lot to handle, so I don't think I'd do 4 series at the same time. And I definitely won't start another series until one of the current ones is done.
