Both are new Runners. The boy's name is Atticus. Atticus lives in the shadow of his father's reputation as a great Runner and deals with a lot of self-doubt and perfectionism because of that. Afraid that he won't live up to the expectation laid on him. He stays quiet a lot because of that but is close with Elliot and Kristine and will open up and joke around them. Atticus is usually collected but sometimes freezes up under pressure. The girl's name is Elliot. Elliot was raised in the poor levels of their tower in Summerloch. It's generally not feasible for a poor person to become a Runner because they don't have access to the training and education that wealthier families do. She's very talented and at the beginning of the story has personal belief in the systems that allowed her to achieve her goals and some resentment toward the people, her family included, that didn't believe she could do it. They are both very talented Runners and in their Trials Came in first and second respectively. Atticus won but Elliot broke the previous sprint record which had been set by Atticus' father. Elliot is active and brazen sometimes rushing in without careful assessment of the situation.
