Pfff. No surprising at all. Amazon is well-known for treating low-qualified workers on their delivery services like an animals, and their working conditions are inhuman. While high-qualified workers as a programmers, have a work conditions not worse than they have in other Tech Big Five companies!
I fully understand it from the business perspective, but emotionally this hypocrisy causes me distaste. So I'm trying to avoid using Amazon delivery services, when it's possible, and never applied, don't ever plan to apply to them as a software developer and don't recommend it to my programmer friends. Despite among programmers working in this company is considered as "prestigious" (because of good treating high-qualified workers, in contrast to low qualified). Meeeh! In my personal opinion, it's the evilest corp from all Big Five, and one of my life principles is "Choose lesser evil whenever possible".
(Now you can laugh and say "Oh, you don't want to apply to them! As if anyone need you! It's not a big loss for them!". But hey, I'm currently working in another corp from Big Five. Hehe )
Making their disrespect to people disadvantageous is the only way to change it. If I would be their delivery worker, I would certainly join the strike!
P.S. Sorry for such an outburst of moralizing. It's just really too hard for me to hold back my gloat after this news.
