Yes BL is a fave gnere,
I've always had a BL side story connected to my main comic series but finding time to start making and publishing it. Tastes for me personally, I enjoy huge contrasts between the main couple, both in physically and personality. As seen in the cover for my wip BL lol:

My published ongoing series I'm ̶n̶o̶t̶ a Sick Boy! (the above BL wip is a short spin off of it), contains Gay themes also. It's an Action-Fantasy-Horror, with the BL being a side-plot. Among minor and side characters I get to experiment with various BL dynamics: player, the toxic couple, enemies to lovers etc To test which I enjoy writing the most, test reader reactions and maybe expand on as a side story.
Enjoy BL films and Series, the past few months i've been binging lots of Thai BLs XD
I enjoy drawing handsome guys and exploring guy fashion, and consuming lots of the BL inspired my own personal fashion style too.
(While I don't read much webnovels, imagining concepts may be similar across mediums)
As a gay dude it's a form of escape from the 'old fashioned' mindsets of the society around. Escaping into a piece of fiction meeting a fictional hunk and building a relationship with him (I'd imagine countries with severe penalties towards LGBT people may also escape in mediums like web comics/novels).
I'm aware BL started as fiction targeting females. Some of the older ones can be cringe with the 'i'm straight but I like this one guy' and some female authors lack of research when writing male characters, so I'm glad to see many 'mordern' female authors acknowledge this and write works that appeal to a broader demographic: female fans and gays fans
I guess as an artist, I'm obsessed with visuals so a hot/cute main couple will 1st grab me.
From the novels I've read I enjoy seeing the authors use of descriptions to plant visuals and feelings in my mind,
immersion is important, seen some of the popular webcomics on here do a poor job at creating a world that hooks you. I understand they want to focus on 'sexy art' and make a quick read (to target readers on a lunch break etc) but sometimes the storytelling feels forced and I lose interest quickly.
(CEO with infinite wealth or the 'Police Man who Topped Medical School' for plot convenience and 0 buildup, those get cheesy real fast for me) XD.
Also prefer a genuine couple who show sign of flaws and growth. Not a fan of the super abusive BLs, if theres's no hint the ML is redeemable early on, I'll just assume its one of those 'abuse kink' BLs and give up. Recently watched TharnType series on YT & while I wanted to sometimes punch Type lol, hints to why he adopted an agressive mindset was given early and kept me hooked
(I'm aware there are ppl who love that abusive couple with the popularity of some series, but not for me lol)
Wishing you good luck, always wanted to start a BL discussion so this is a fun toopic! Thanks for starting. Also your Link is broken, getting a 404 error
@Lane_Kalchik That's so cool your story based on how you met your partner Kenny. True, you're right those little moments definitely add organic factor and help build a ship
Lol 'Experience as a living BL', yea same I feel that way too XD Yea writing from experience always adds that 'personal' layer
