@Peni Well, from what I read so far of your story Fox Trap, you're really good! Keep up the great work and never stop writing. You're only getting better from here. And I feel you on always having your nose in a book. I could barely put them down and had a lot of loose pages full of stories that I never finished. Think I'm starting to see a trend. As I got older, I started thinking deeper about what I was doing and then I realized that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
And woohoo! LGBTQIA+, the B is just as important as the other letters and I will always stand by that. From there, I hope that you achieve everything that you're looking to. Never let anyone tell you that you can't because you can. You're changing the world already.
@raekitano Aaaah, Fanfiction.com. God, I remember that. I used to be on there all the time and then I moved to Ao3 and now I'm here. So you can probably see the progression. Anyhow, you are very productive and I think your son has good taste in stories. I remember Acceleracers vaguely though I might be getting it confused, I always liked choose-your-own-challenge stories because the different endings compel you to go back and try something different. VIdeo games like that just kill me too (sigh).
Anyway, there's nothing wrong with wanting people to read your work. You're doing great by getting things out and the only thing to do from there is keeping creating. People are bound to notice and even if they don't, you know you did well so hey. Keep up the good work.
@MariMontoya Montoya Welcome back, m'dear! Oh god, I feel you with the make believe thing. I used to have a mortal enemy that no one else could see and I would make intricate stories on why he and I were locked in an eternal battle of epic proportions. Alas, as I got older, he faded but I still remember the challenge I faced every time I fought against him in my mind. Haha, my childhood strangeness aside, you've been an "official" writer for awhile now. Publish what you want, publish what you don't. Someone will read it and the best stories are the ones we think are the worst. I know that logic is strange but trust me.
The Prince and I is amazing and I'm still reading from the beginning to the end, I just have to flood you with comments when I get around to it. Maybe tonight. But moving on, you'll reach people as long as you keep your hand out and show your cards. Most journeys take a long time to complete but it starts with the first step, and you're doing just fine.
@Jenny-Toons Well hey there, m'love. Proper use of memes, I commend you for it. Have I ever told you that Goosebumps used to terrify me as a child but I couldn't not read it. So I just read and read, and went: "Wow, okay. This is scary." And yet it inspired me to keep writing. But I'm a sucker for good endings and family stories are just my kryptonite because they're so sweet which may be why I write them. Ahem, I wish you the best on your work and I hope you have fun! That's the whole part of being a storyteller. If you're not having fun, what's the point of doing it?
You have the ability to make a whole world. So put adulting on the side for a bit and be that kid that you once were. You got it.
@minerrale Well, well, welcome back! That was a lame joke. Ahem. I know the feeling of having dreams and nightmares and horrors that haunt you when you think that you've already stepped past them more tha nonce. And you just need a way to get them out before they swallow you whole. So, I want you to know. I respect you and the battle that you're waging against your own mind can be won. There are so many people with issues in the world, but sometimes you feel like you're the only one. And you're right, you're not alone. And I wish you the best in having your story translated and I can't wait to read more things written by you. I feel like you can help a lot of people, friend and I'm glad that I got to witness part of your origin story.
@wumblebumarts Where to start, my friend? There is such thing as organized chaos and I think you've got it. It's alright to be chaotic. It's alright to have things everywhere and hey, if it works for you, who can complain? Your way of doing things is interesting and it does sound like it could be helpful. Personally, I play video games that give me that vibe for the work I'm trying to put out. So I can get that feeling and fall deeper into the world that's inside of my head. That may be why "fame" never appealed to me. Keeping it weird is great. And I think your idea of what you want to be is wonderful. Staying connected, staying present, that's the best thing you can do as a creator.
So, I want to say that I wish you luck in everything you do. Never stop writing. Never stop being weird. What's normal anyway? Pssh, never heard of her.
Keep it real.
@spicy_sweets I misread your name as spicy memes, I won't lie. Either way, pretty spicy. Anyway. I'm glad that you want to impact your audience and honestly, I've never understood why people want their audiences to cry until I watched Marvel movies. Then everything became clear. Ahem, I heard once that a rabbit's foot is supposed to be lucky so you're already putting your best foot forward. Oh my god, that pun was horrible. Forgive me, forgive me. Okay, okay. Seriously though. Paranormal stuff scares the living bejeebus out of me but I Will still watch/read and shake in my bed with fear but it's worth it. Keep it up, spicy me--- ahem, spicy sweets.
@Alex9Wolf9 Hello, hello. There's nothing wrong with being a crazy kid with a big head and a big imagination. That head on your shoulders can make a story that will inspire other people just like you. How do I know? I'm gonna let you wonder about that. But never stop writing. Never stop trying. And I know the country you're in can be a hassle. But never let your circumstances stand in the way of your dream. I know you can do this.
@Lady_DarkStar Hey there! SO! RPGs are my lifeblood. What RPGs do you play? Which ones do you like? Please tell me, I am so interested. Lately, I've been playing Octopath Traveler, Moonlighter, Kingdom Hearts, the list goes on. But anyway, I wish you luck with your work and I really should read it when I get the chance. The greatest thing about this thread is that I get to see you guys in your element. Talking about what you like, what you like about yourself, etc. And it's nice. I'm glad that you want to help people and I hope for this small bit of time that i helped you.
@violin Didn't I see you earlier? Bah, what does it matter, welcome back my friend! I think a running theme for most writers is that they're inspired to write from a young age and I think that's a beautiful thing. Where our imaginations as children help us to fuel the adults we're going to be and the stories that we wanted to create. I read Cinder a while ago and I loved it. The story idea that you're talking about though sounds like it's going to be great. And if you post it up on Tapas, please tell me. I'd love to rea dit.
Ahem, at the end of the day, I'm proud of you for what you've showed the world and what you haven't. You're doing great and I hope the Writer's Camp goes well for you. For all of you for that matter. But real talk, I know that fame is terrifying and that you just want to do what you want to do. But as long as you don't let fame change you and you just focus on your grind. Let everything else become background noise. Your dream is all that matters.
And on that note, here's a tidbit for all of you:
Even if you aren't "popular" or "famous", you're still doing something so give yourself a pat on the back. You made it.
