Give it a listen if you please. It's 8 bit! :D
-I have this thing where I keep layering the bridge into the main melody because it sounds cool, and it does, but I really can't keep doing that all the time; it makes the music too predictable (besides, most of the pros I listen to don't do that at all...)
-Inspiration for melodies usually comes pretty easily to me, which is cool. I just have to concentrate on a phrase or a sound, and in about ten minutes I've got something new. And when I'm lucky, I can just compose out of thin air. ^^
-Rytmik Ultimate is a great program, and I'd recommend it to anyone, but I have just ONE pet peeve with it: when you lower an instrument's pitch, the sound duration automatically gets longer. Like, noticeably longer (enough to turn your staccato into legato as you go down the scale...in ONE octave...).
I think this is one of those 'things' in the audio world that you either have to deal with or find a workaround for, but I wish they'd worked around it. =( Maybe they did in their newer version; Ultimate isn't the most recent (but it's cheaper~).
-I don't time signature. =/ I just compose; the music ends up in whatever it ends up in. I only notice the difference when I start having to count beats to put down notes, because my melody doesn't match the 4/4 setup of the program. There are no options to make it easier for those who don't want to compose in 4/4 or 2/4 or something similar, but I don't really mind that.
-I change bpm whenever I feel like it (Is that normal? I honestly don't know). But it's not just stylistic choice; because of the way the program works, it's actually best to set the bpm to match your fastest beat. You can't slice notes in half; what you see in the program is the smallest you're gonna get, so if you need a fast beat somewhere in the song (even if it's just percussion) you have to raise the tempo, and just compose everything else...slower. I guess this is kind of a pet peeve, but I've gotten used to it.
-Mixing is STILL my weak point. Especially when I 'habituate' to the song and start not hearing things anymore (like when you find a new song that has a really nice bassline, but over time it starts to sound weaker because you get too used to it)...Some of the songs in my playlist could probably use a little work in that department...but this was my first playlist; I worked really hard and part of me just wanted to be done. XD
