I'm a scientist by education (and early career paths, until they uh.. took a different turn), but I really wanted to do a more fantastical sci-fi story, because I feel like often they do a better job connecting with what makes science so cool - the wonder, and mystery of the unknown, and the desire to find the answers. My story is about a girl who's trying to solve a cosmic mystery, because she believes it will lead her to her mother.

Mine is a soft sci-fi that takes place in the American Southwest! Really wanted to do a story set in a futuristic version of the world, but show the more mundane side of it that is far less fantastical and almost indistinguishable from what we see day to day.
