Most people on Tapas are aware f this, or learn it very quickly. The problem this thread wants to deal with isn't about engagement per say. It's about dead subs.
In theory, the system we have in place should in fact favour smaller creators. As I explained on a previous thread, 2 creators with 5 views, likes and comments but one with 5 subs will rank higher on the charts than someone with 100, aka 100% engagement vs 5% engagement.
This is especially bad for subs that don't interact, or even view and instead just mark as read, are harmful to creators ratings. Of course, lots of people don't understand this system and think subs is what matters. And sure, short term is can, but if you're not going to interact, or at least view, it's better to unfollow or you are making it harder for the creator.
It would be better if the system was clearer, but that's not going to happen, or if there was a separate "mark for later" or similar instead of just subbing.
