I find it fascinating that many of the "great masters" of art from the past would be Illustrators in modern times, not Fine Artists. Painting or drawing images of things to evoke a specific emotional response or instruct a particular feeling is now mostly the field of the illustrator, while Fine Artists whose work fills galleries do much more conceptual and abstract works, designed to spark discussion rather than point the viewer towards a specific conclusion.
Also interesting that Fine Artists earn way more money.

Fine artists earn way more money but there are much less fine artists who earn any money than there are illustrators. So statistically you are more likely to make a living as an illustrator than a fine artist. Add to that the fact how some artists are just one-hit-wonders when it comes to showcasing their work in galleries and I'd much rather work a steady job as concept/storyboard artist or some advertising agency than gamble with fine art. :9

If you want extra unease, you'll be surprised to know Edvard Munch, the guy who did "Scream", did, in fact, know other ways to be creepy

Though I have to say, the Renaissance must have been something else if living in that time period. There were a lot of "Madonna" artworks from various artists.

Without art... this world would be a dull and bleak place. I'm very grateful for art. Whether it be comics, painting, digital, art is a wonderful and powerful thing. I especially appreciate art from the old days. Great artists like Leonardo Da Vinci and Salvador Dali are amazing. Even today's artists are amazing. Gotta love art.
