Spending 4 year on a comic is good or too much?

I was thinking about how long it going to take to finnish my comic book, and looks like I will at least spend 4 years making it. Do you guys think it's too much?

That depends.
Are you counting publiaction history, or drawing it?
Nevertheless, I think that only matters if its your first comic. If you are learning, maybe something shorter to grasp the gist of it, but if you already know the ropes, go for it, imo.

Well, if you want a comparison, I spent 5 years each on two of my series.

I think most comics that aren't one-shots or short stories take about four or five years, if not longer. It's a long haul, but ultimately it's up to you if you can dedicate the time and energy to one story.

Whether it's too much or not is relative tbh. There's nothing inherently wrong with that at all But it's understandable too if you look at that number and think "whoa, I dunno if I can commit that long to a single project".

I myself am kinda in the middle- I spent 1 year on my first project, a 70 page story. I've moved up to one that will take about 2-3 years now. I dunno if I really want to spend 4 or 5 years on a project personally tho.

No, it's normal. I'm working on mine about 7 years. but recently started to draw, so probably next 3-4 years till i finish it xD It's totaly normal. a lot of ppl spend even entire lifes on 1 or 2 comic series. Don't give up. keep the good work!

Depends on the length really. I've spent around 4 years in The Ghoul, but that was terrible, since it was so short. For a longer series though, it's completely fine.

I've planned to spend 5-ish years on Blue Star Rebellion. It may potentially take even longer, though if it does, I'll be making it side-by-side with my main project.

Said main project is extremely long-running, and I completely intend to spend the rest of my working life on it. It's split into smaller, more contained 'arcs', which are self-contained stories in and of themselves... But there are so many, and the universe is so broad, that I'll never run out of material to play with. (Blue Star Rebellion is technically an 'arc' within this broader universe.)

So, no. As long as you have the drive to spend five years working on the same project, I think it's a sensible amount of time!

In my experience, the initial estimate for how long a series is gonna run always ends up being way too short.
