'Spy' as a genre

When I was uploading my most recent comic https://tapas.io/series/2055-The-Ghosts-of-Autonomy (shameless plug) I realised that there wasn't a 'Spy' category. Now, I know that you could argue spy stories come under action, adventure and even mystery but I feel that a spy genre would be a good idea.

This could literally just be me thinking this but I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts about this. Also, thoughts if you think a certain genre feels 'missing' as well.

Nah, I don't think 'spy' should be a genre. It's more of an activity (that happens in many kinds of stories) than a type of story in itself. I mean, you could write a spy romance, spy horror, spy comedy, or the classic spy action mystery.

If anything, I'd consider it a sub-genre of Mystery, along with Detective Noir and Stranger Things-type stuff (y'know, "kids on bikes").

Spy wouldnt be a genre it would fall under mystery or action depending on your story.

Yeah, I agree with the above said.
While ''Spy Fiction'' is a genre to me (and one I deeply love) I don't think it should be a genre on Tapas, just because it's so niche. For Tapas I think Action or Mystery sufices.

I think beside Genre, they can add "tags" as a second filter, like novelupdates, so readers can easily find what they want to find.
