The stuff about covers all applies. You should ideally have one or more faces visible on your cover and nice typography. The only difference is you might commission somebody else to make the art if you're not an artist, or to also do the typography if you lack knowledge, training or resources in design.
The stuff about establishing a strong story hook within the first few episodes also applies. In fact, a lot of the stuff about story in there is perfectly applicable to novels, like keeping the cast small, avoiding multiple characters with the same role, focusing on a change the world or protagonist goes through etc.
The promo stuff should mostly work for novels too.
Really everything but the stuff about drawing, speech bubbles, gutters, visual storytelling and other things clearly specific to comics.
