TLDR
Mayors of coastal cities and towns in WA/OR are mandating tourists be out by Sunday/Monday and hotels will be closed indefinitely. Access to beaches limted/not at all. State parks are closed. Coastal areas haven't been this scared since a volcano erupted.
In more local news for me
one of the grocer ladies has worked for 40years here and she said the last time she's seen mass panic like this in the town (the one i live in) was when Saint Helens erupted and there was fear people would flee to the coasts to get away from the ash
as of last night at 6pm, only "city of" beaches were closed. now it's all of them along where i live. according to people in the grocery store when i went to get fresh food, the closure happened at 6am. and hotels are closed by mandate. so the tourists for spring break will have no where to stay
news from Forks WA: open to tourists and being overrun. tiny medical centers terrified. (if you dont know Forks got it's only fame outside of hunting/ect because of Twilight book series and the locals loathe that)
And for those who travelled south instead of north, Cannon Beach is also closing their hotels
Anyone know if suicide hotlines are still open? I've been watching the police reports and attempts have gone up.
