The FB page for the town I live in posted some numbers. Our town has the third highest number of cases in the state (and it's a relatively small town too, right next to the capitol where the biggest outbreak is). I expressed concern and urged people to STAY HOME and DO NOT GO OUT FOR NON-ESSENTIALS LIKE PAINT/FLOWERS FOR HOME PROJECTS.
And I've already gotten multiple laugh emoji reactions to it. I called those people out in comments. My husband is still an essential employee at a big national hardware store. I said to him before "Maybe you should take some days off like just once a week even to try and have less exposure." He said to me "No, because I don't want some 17 year old then being the one to deal with this."
He's risking his health and mine so that others hopefully don't have to.
People do not understand that we are in a STATE OF EMERGENCY. This is not a vacation. It is not a time for home projects. People are getting seriously sick and dying and some people would rather plant flowers for the spring.
I really think that they should shut down every single store that isn't a hospital or pharmacy. NOBODY except workers and maybe a few exceptions like disabled, old, or high risk people should be allowed in. Every order should be curbside pick up only. Pop the trunk, put in bags, don't even have to interact with anyone.
There are just too many people not taking this seriously and wandering around because boredom or whatever. And I agree that these people should be at least fined or something.
