oh that's true, hell who ever tells you marketing has nothing to do is either lying or ignorant, but my philosophy or what I understand about marketing is that it only makes it so people know your product exists, they might give it a try but if the product is shit then nobody will touch it or care for it.
in entertainment this is very dangerous, since for example if you first book made bank but it was shit and people only bought it cause of marketing, the second book will never make money as the first and the spiral of losing money beggings.
and example of this is JK.R she made 7 succesful books but now she can't even make one profitable book with a false name
(she tried and had to reveal her name so the book would actually make a profit) and lets not even mention the new series of movies
edit: in comics this can be seen with marvel and DC they have been loosing sales by the thousands I mean when they are celebrating 10k when before they made 1M on a bad book that shows you that you are doing something wrong
