Immediately the same phenomenon as before occurred, the ancient gateway activated as Aster touched it. The luminescent violet glow travelled up and highlighted the runes on the black stone.
âOoookay - I hadnât said yes yet!?â Genii panicked as the door flickered back to life. He wasnât planning on going anywhere near that thing.
Bellah covered her ears again. âApressa (hurry)... before the light fades.â She said to the Siren with a head nod to the door.
âNo way! Iâm not-â Genii went from shaking his head to dropping it - like heâd nodded off for a moment. He looked up at Danivere with eyes flickering to gold before cheerily saying â... vedeh ta hesh! (see you soon!)â
Genii (?) waved to her and walked over to join Aster. Heâd taken so long fretting that the monument was starting to fade, but as he placed his own yellow glowing palm onto it the cold stone it lit up again.
This time the high pitched whirring intensified and the cool purple glow became a yellow blinding glare - the symbols and drawings and even Jetâs graffiti bleeding into one another until the entire door glowed as bright as a sun.
Bellah watched until it became too painful. She turned her back to it and ducked.
The door rattled and the ground surrounding it quaked, until eventually the device seemed to stabilise. The glow faded to a more tolerable intensity and the loud whirring sound was replaced with a quiet hum. The doorway shimmered and rippled like liquid between its black stone frame.
Aster and Genii had opened what looked like a portal.
