After a bit of research, I discovere the origin of the line art. It's from the current cover of Dojo's webcomic, it being one of the reasons why I initally wanted to use the character's original colors and then try to "spice it up" a little bit.
Instead, I ended up using picking my own colors and even changing the environment. This also becasue the original illustration is not contextualized yet in any page of the comic.
An example of the changes I did: what originally was a window facing to the earth, now became a giant red screen with a warning message!
This challenge taught me about working with another artist's ideas, perspective and interpretation. As a person who would love to work as a colorist, I find this lessons fascinating and incredibly inspiring, trying to make to most of them as I go.
